Drydocks World carries out emergency drill in partnership with local authorities

Dubai’s Drydocks World, the service provider to the marine, offshore, oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, has successfully completed a joint emergency drill with UAE local Authorities in the Drydocks World yard

All emergency response teams collaborated efficiently together, putting procedures into action for effective incident management. The drill scenario was a major fire with numerous casualties in wet berth 1 onboard vessel LNG Portovyy. The local authorities who participated in the emergency drill included Ministry of Interior Dubai Civil Defense, Dubai Police, Dubai Ambulance Corporation, DEWA, RTA, Dubai Municipality, Emirates Red Crescent, Dubai Health Authority, and the Federal National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority from Abu Dhabi. 

“Testing emergency services plays a vital role in ensuring we are able to respond effectively within critical timescales to incidents, and ensures our staff are trained properly for deployment of emergency services in line with the authorities,” said Capt. Rado Antolovic, managing director and CEO of DP World’s Maritime Services Division. “This strategic drill has provided an excellent opportunity for us to evaluate and enhance our procedures, aligning our readiness alongside the local specialised officials.

The yard has developed a culture of team effort towards safety, making it everyone’s responsibility to champion safety in their daily work activities. The yard has received a number of safety awards and accolades including the British Safety Council’s prestigious “5 Star” rating for the past 14 years and the “Sword of Honor” on 11 occasions.
