A survey of MENA region employees has revealed that more than 98 per cent think training opportunities at the workplace are important
The survey, entitled Learning in the Workplace in the Middle East and North Africa, was conducted by leading Middle Eastern career site bayt.com, and is based on data collected from more than 6,600 respondents belonging to a range of different industries and age groups, from countries across the MENA region including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt and the UAE.
Of those asked, 98.2 per cent found it important to work for a company that provided learning and development opportunities, with 97.2 per cent saying they were dedicated to lifelong learning.
The figures will be particularly poignant for the oil and gas industry, where factors affecting worker retention have been playing an evermore crucial role due to the predicted ‘talent crunch’.
Suhail Masri, vice-president of sales at bayt.com, said, “With 98.2 per cent of respondents saying that learning opportunities are very important to them, our latest poll cements just how essential it is for organizations to have a systematic approach to learning.”
“Indeed, organisations that provide learning opportunities tend to have high employee motivation, productivity and loyalty,” Masri added.
Aside from the salary, the top motivators at work for respondents include having a good work-life balance (24.6 per cent), getting learning and training opportunities (24.5 per cent), besides having a good relationship their managers (17.4 per cent) and co-workers (16.8 per cent).
