Edesix launches VideoTag VT-100

Security

Body camera maker Edesix has launched the VideoTag VT-100, an upgraded version of its VT-50

The VT-100 comes with longer battery life, longer recording times and is more durable compared with the company's previous products.

Demand for body cameras has grown after activist and civil liberty organisations have demanded greater accountability from law enforcement officials.

Video footage from body cameras worn by officials helps police keep a check on errant workers and deal with issues such as excessive use of force.

"We are delighted to announce the launch of our new VideoTag VT-100. The beauty of this product is that it bridges the gap between the smaller incident recorder and the more powerful Body Worn Camera," Richie McBride, CEO, Edesix said.

"The VT-100 will allow staff in public-facing roles, who are not always part of the security team, to create a safer working environment for themselves and their colleagues. It offers a cost-effective, secure and practical approach to wearable security for incident recording and workflow management," McBride added.

The camera is weatherproof, lightweight, unobtrusive, inexpensive and easy to use.

The VT-100 can record up to four hours of continuous footage, streams live footage, and has a standby battery life of up to three months, meaning users don't need to worry about charging the device often.

Edesix will begin exhibiting the VT-100 at security conferences from June.
