Qatargas and ConocoPhillips have signed an incident assistance agreement that will further Qatargas’ commitment to safety at the workplace by enhancing its response management system
Under the agreement, ConocoPhillips will provide technical expertise to effectively respond to any emergency incidents that may occur at Qatargas’ facilities.
The first and foremost goal of Qatargas is to operate safely. The agreement is an important step towards ensuring safety, recovery, stabilisation and business continuity of Qatargas’ operations in case of an emergency. It enables reliable support, connectivity and interoperability, all of which are critical components in any emergency response collaboration.
“We are pleased to share our emergency response expertise with Qatargas’ highly trained emergency response organisation to support and reinforce an effective response in the unlikely event of an incident,” said Gary Sykes, president of ConocoPhillips Qatar.
Should an incident occur, Qatargas is prepared to rapidly and effectively respond to bring the incident under control.
Health and safety at the workplace is becoming an increasingly important focus area across the oil and gas industry, which has among the highest rates of occupational injuries and fatalities across industries worldwide. It has also become interlinked with corporate social responsibility for oil and gas companies in the Middle East.
