ME construction boom opportunity for Portacool

Industrial

Thriving construction and increasing HSE regulation in the Middle East have provided a ready market, said Portacool

The US-based supplier of portable cooling equipment said it was poised to take advantage of the favourable conditions as construction companies and governments across the region seek to ensure the safety of the ever-increasing number of workers operating in the Middle East’s soaring temperatures.

The firm is working with local partners to provide cooling stations for construction workers in countries such as Dubai, where midday breaks are mandatory for workers in the summer months.

“We know that heat related ailments can severely impact workers in terms of their health as well as their focus and overall productivity,” said Portacool vice president of sales Bob Mangiaforte. “Providing areas of refuge can reduce the number of heat related accidents, and more importantly offer a space to cool down.”

The construction industry across the combined Middle East and Africa (MEA) region is expected to grow at an annual rate of 6.9 per cent between 2016 and 2020.
