USA’s Larson Electronics has launched a heavy-duty extension cord that’s designed to establish a secure connection for explosion-proof equipment
The cord can be used in areas that are prone to having flammable gases and vapours, said Larson Electronics.
The EPEXC-4X-12.3-100 explosion-proof extension cord can extend the reach of equipment in hazardous locations, where power receptacles are not in close proximity to the work space, said the company. The cord is built with 100 feet of 12/3 SOOW explosion-proof cord rated at 20 amps of continuous service, providing ample length for moving about a work area. Its also fitted with four explosion-proof twist lock receptacles made of non-sparking aluminum for the connection of equipment in hazardous locations.
An executive from Larsonelectronics.com Rob Bresnahan said, “This unit enables up to four pieces of equipment to run from one extension cord, eliminating the need for multiple cords to be strewn throughout a work area. We offer a wide range of explosion proof extension cords with different lengths and connectors that are readily available in stock.”
A 20 amp explosion proof plug is terminated at the end of the 100 feet cord to provide power to the four outlets. This cord, and its plug and receptacles are a 3-pole 2-wire design, which works with most common explosion-proof equipment. This explosion proof extension cord is Class 1 Division 1 Groups C, D and Class 2 Division 1 Groups E, F, and G rated, ideal for use in hazardous locations. The cord is oil, chemical and abrasion-resistant for durability and the receptacles feature deep recessed contacts for protection against arcing and a powder coat finish for resistance to corrosion.
Larson Electronic’s cord can connect explosion-proof lighting, fans and blowers, and extend the range of portable power supplies and sub-stations within the hazardous work area.
