A fire detection system has been chosen for the new aviation fuel depot at Abu Dhabi International Airport
UK-based fire prevention firm Advanced was selected by the airport’s operator to provide protection for the multi-million dollar extension to one of the most high-risk areas of the facility, which requires a high quality UL864-approved fire system.
Supplied by Advanced’s local partner Telectron, the new Axis AX system covers control rooms, office buildings, substations and operational areas, comprising five Axis AX four-loop panels, BACnet BMS integration and more than 300 individual components and devices.
“Fire safety is a vital component in any building, but even more so when that building is used for the storage and distribution of aircraft fuel,” said Telectron spokesperson Vinayan Kizhathodi. “Everything about this building is of the highest quality and we felt that Axis AX panels from Advanced were the obvious choice to recommend to the client, given their track record of quality and reliability.”
Advanced said the Axis AX panels are networked together in a fault-tolerant, ‘ring network’ and then interfaced to a Programmable Logic Circuit (PLC) using redundant communication, with optical smoke detectors in the main buildings and flame and gas detectors in operational areas interfacing directly with the PLC.
