Cyber attack concerns prompt KOC to upgrade security network

Security

Cisco has announced that it will be refreshing the network hardware for Kuwait Oil Company (KOC)

The move follows increasing concerns over cyber attacks in the industry. Oil and gas is one of the latest sectors to move towards updating their network hardware over increasing cyber security concerns.

The new product, Cisco Network Admission Control (NAC), is expected to help KOC implement security, access and compliance policies through a central management point rather than configure policies throughout the network on individual devices.

KOC senior telecommunications engineer Abdulsalam Al-Matrouk said, “The number of devices and applications accessing KOC’s network both inside and outside our firewall has been steadily growing, thereby creating more attack vectors for hackers to exploit. Cyber-attacks are getting increasingly sophisticated and discreet and are driven by financial or political gain.”
