Meraas healthcare division in Dubai to aid medical tourism

Dubai-based holding company Meraas has announced the launch of its new healthcare division to support Dubai’s medical tourism strategy by addressing its immediate preventive healthcare needs and encouraging patients to seek treatment locally

The new unit — Meraas Healthcare — will shape a community-based, innovative, patient-centric healthcare network that offers a wide range of preventive, diagnostic, treatment and follow-up outpatient services all within one fully integrated system.

The new entity will translate Meraas’ strategic vision to contribute to the Dubai Medical Tourism Strategy that aims to attract 500,000 medical tourists to the emirate by 2020.

Commenting on the new launch, group chairman Abdulla Al Habbai, said, “Meraas has identified healthcare as a key sector in which it can play a significant role and create a positive impact on economy and society.”

Meraas Healthcare, he stated, will complement the existing healthcare landscape in the UAE and provide services that conform to international healthcare standards.

“We strongly believe that a healthy society is happy society and through the formation of the new division we aim to make a difference in the community and support a key theme of Dubai Plan 2021 — the people,” he added.

According to him, Meraas Healthcare will roll out a holistic approach to diagnostic and outpatient care services, through its state-of-the-art designed facilities that integrated technologies. The division will provide up-to-date medical and healthcare solutions that help enhance the holistic wellness of individuals and families alike.

Hamad Al Matrooshi, senior V-P of healthcare at Meraas, added that the new division is committed to delivering world-class medical services to regional and global families.

“We aim to build an all-inclusive portfolio of healthcare facilities and provide a comprehensive range of services within one truly integrated informatics system, powered by cutting-edge technology. We will focus on the demand drivers of specialties and the most needed medical areas such as orthopaedics, cardiology, paediatrics and family medicine to achieve the goal of happy and healthy nation,” he added.

“In our commitment to contributing to Dubai’s medical tourism strategy, we will also focus on offering personalised care and concierge medicine through well-planned facilities that bring together state-of-the-art technology, design, international standards of service and leading global knowledge,” he added.
