Careem, the Middle East’s leading ride-hailing app, has announced the rollout of their Careem Kids car type in Lebanon, equipped with a child car seat for extra safety
Customers in Lebanon can now choose to book the Careem Kids car type which carries a starting fare of US$7 and a minimum trip fare of US$10. Seats provided are Quax brand and are suitable for children aged between one and four years. Currently, the service is available for scheduled bookings only.
Since launching operations in 2012, Careem has expanded to close to 100 cities across 13 countries in the wider Middle East.
The only operator to offer child car seats, Careem’s initiative aims to address road safety standards across the region.
“Safety and security are top priorities for Careem, with more than US$2mn invested this year alone in protective measures for customers and captains,” said the company.
The company also stressed in conducting car check-ups and renewing all documentation provided by captains to ensure they continue to meet the company’s standards.
“We are proud to be offering our Careem Kids product to families living and visiting Lebanon. Already a great success in the UAE, the service is unique to the region and one that is often a core reason for choosing Careem. We are the only ride-hailing operator in the region to offer a child car seat and we will continue to push the public narrative forward on the importance of buckling up in-ride, for all passengers” commented Ibrahim Manna, managing director of Careem across emerging markets.
