Aster S.H.I.E.L.D discusses child safety and care practices

Aster S.H.I.E.L.D event held on 14 December 2018 in Dubai brought together 90 children and their families from different countries to discuss child safety and care practices

Aster Safe Handy Information Eliminates Likely Dangers (S.H.I.E.L.D) is a corporate social responsibility initiative of Aster Hospitals, UAE, and a combined venture of Aster Nurture and Aster Volunteers

Dr Sherbaz Bichu, CEO, Aster Hospitals, UAE and Specialist in Anesthesia at Aster Hospital, Mankhool and Sarah Illyas Tony David, chief nursing officer, Aster Hospitals, UAE led a team of internal and external volunteers in educating parents and caregivers at the event.

Specialists from Aster Hospitals touched upon various aspects of a child's health and safety by exploring the topics of paediatrics, ENT and dentistry along with awareness sessions on basic life support, nutrition and first aid.

Further to training sessions and demonstration of safety measures, the team hosted an open forum between the attendees and the specialist panellists. Activities for children including a creative skills workshop, a talent showcase, a magic show, face painting sessions and quiz competitions were also held.

Aster S.H.I.E.L.D is part of Aster Nurture that is aimed at supporting the health of both the mother and the baby from conception until when the child is five years old.

The programme regularly conducts various educational sessions on parenting along with prenatal yoga sessions for expectant mothers and Mummy's Circle-sessions to address queries and concerns around motherhood.
