The International Safety Awards have played a vital role in supporting the social, economic and business benefits of employers taking the necessary steps to maintain a safe environment for their employees and others, according to the council.

Last year, 515 organisations won an International Safety Award, including businesses from the UK, Africa, Asia, mainland Europe, the Middle East and the West Indies.

In the past, some of the winners have included Alisal Logistics of Turkey, Bahrain National Gas Company, Bovis Homes, Delhi International Airport, Glasgow Airport, GlaxoSmithKline, Kuwait National Petroleum Company and Kelloggs.

“Winning an International Safety Award enables organisations to share their achievement with their employees, clients, contractors, local community and the wider public. It may help inspire other organisations to also make that commitment and emulate the success of our winners," said Mike Robinson, chief executive of the British Safety Council.

“Health and safety, managed sensibly and proportionately, brings real and lasting benefits for workers, their families, businesses and society as whole."

The British Safety Council has revealed that the deadline for entries will be 8 February 2016.
